Our story

La Botana has been a family-run Mexican restaurant in Thornton since 2000.

Sylvia and Rafael Cervantes opened La Botana on Washington Street in 2000, and the family has run it ever since. Over the years it has become a regular stop in Thornton for big Mexican plates, fresh seafood, and a margarita after work.

The name is an invitation. A botana is a snack or a shared plate, the food you reach for at the table while everyone catches up. That is the spirit of the place: come in, order a few things, and stay a while.

The dining room is usually busy, with family photos on the wall, a full bar, and plates coming out of the kitchen all day. La Botana serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, seven days a week.

The rooster on the sign

A rooster crowns the monument sign out on Washington Street, so it crows over the whole block. We kept it close to the brand as a small nod to the corner regulars know.

Run by the Cervantes family

La Botana is owned and run by Sylvia Cervantes and Rafael Cervantes, who have kept the kitchen going on Washington Street since 2000.
